1961:      Dorgan's Mini Coaches (DMC) is formed by the late Thomas Dorgan with his mother Frances Dorgan and the business is run from their home in Terenure, Dublin 6.

 

1962:      Thomas Dorgan excels in swimming and water polo and becomes one of Ireland's top sporting personalities.

 

1963:      DMC looks after the transport arrangements for the visit of US President John F. Kennedy.

 

1964-65: DMC brand their mini coaches yellow/brown/white.

 

1966:      DMC develops worldwide tourism links.

 

1967-69: DMC become major players in the transporting of national sport teams including rugby and soccer.

 

1970s

 looks after the transport arrangements for the visit of US President Richard M. Nixon.

1971:      DMC celebrates 10 years in business with a wine and cheese party at the Horse Shoe Bar, Shelbourne Hotel, St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2.

1971-78: DMC continue to build their reputation as Dublin's No. 1 mini coach company by providing a quality private hire service to the people of Dublin.

1974:      DMC tour driver, Charles Maguire, awarded Bord Failte driver award of excellence.

1974-76: DMC goes continental with trips organised to Lourdes and a successful water polo tour of Spain and France with the Half Moon Swimming Club,

1986-89: DMC 

 

 

 

1992:      A 50/50 partnership is formed between Thomas Dorgan and Stephen Millar. Stephen Millar becomes Operations Manager.  This formation will change the name of the company from 'Dorgan's Mini Coaches' to 'Dorgan's Mini Coaches & Chauffeur Drive'. 

1993:      DMC start running their own tour program.

1996:      DMC move to new premises at Bluebell Industrial Estate, Dublin 12.  

DMC invests one million euro in new vehicles.   

1998:      JUNE: A new company is formed with Stephen Millar, Thomas Dorgan and Brenda Mackin as directors and shareholders.   

1999:      Half Moon Swimming Club dedicates an annual 5Km swimming race in Dublin Bay to the memory of Thomas Dorgan.   

 

2000:       

DMC is awarded bus/coach contract by Aer Lingus and Dublin Airport Authority and is on call 24 hours to cover flight delays and cancellations.

 

2004:      DMC&CD 

2006:      DMC&CD acquires south Dublin based coach company 'Busybus'.   

2007:     DMC&CD 

 

2009:     Despite the economic problems facing Ireland, DMC&CD continues to invest in new vehicles and staff and like many other Irish companies

they 'tighten their belts' in order to survive a tough year in business.   In DMC&CD become an official sponsor of The Irish Long Distance Swimming Association.

 

 

DMC&CD start preparing for their 50th Anniversary Celebrations in 2011.DMC&CD launch their new website at Dublin Tourist Office HQ, 37 College Green, Dublin 2 - thanks to Keith McDonald of Extreme Ireland.

 

2011:    JANUARY: FEBRUARY: DMC&CD  sponsor Dublin based waterpolo player Christine Barretto who was recently selected for the South African Ladies International Team to compete in the Fina World Championship in Shanghai in July.  SEPTEMBER: DMC&CD are c27/09/11 Ireland's first ever Children's Hospice was officially opened in Leopardstown by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.  400 guests were transported complimentary by DMC&CD's vehicles and chauffeurs. OCTOBER: seater Volvo coach with Swedish chassis and a Spanish body.   DMC&CD sponsored
